Rant about Iowa, corn and the ethanol paradox

Driving in Iowa, one is definitely surrounded by corn fields.

This website talks about Iowa and corn and states about ethanol: “A renewable fuel that’s better for our environment, our health, our wallets and grown right in our backyard? That’s corn-based ethanol, and lowa produces more of it than any other state.”

Is that so?  Explain to me then why in Virginia the three grades of gasoline sold say “may contain up to 10% ethanol” and one pays a significant price premium to buy the ethanol-free version, and not all stations offer it.

This picture when I filled up my truck today speaks for itself

I guess Iowans haven’t fully bought into the concept of ethanol in fuel, because unlike us, they get one option with ethanol, and three options without ethanol!!!
