Grand Prairie, TX – visiting a work colleague from my Turnberry days

We previously visited the DFW area, but on our journey to the various National Parks west of the Mississippi river, we planned to stop and spend some time with Raymond Horton, one of Bernard’s  work colleagues while he worked at SJI in New Jersey for Turnberry Solutions.  We were invited to have lunch in their home on Sunday, and enjoyed a great meal that Janice had prepared for the occasion

While visiting them, we stayed at a campground in Grand Prairie, bordering on Joe Poole Lake, southwest of Dallas

The view from our kitchen table (at the kitchen as well as the dinning room, the bedroom. You get what I’m saying, right?)
This is our “front entrance” that leads to our outdoor patio. What a life.

Claudette’s Two Cents.

Remember when I said that we don’t eat out often when we RV? Scratch this. We’re eating at this nice Southern Place called Babe’s Chicken Dinner House. It was so cute and the food was GREAT!

Look at those chickens in the fridge. I couldn’t resist taking a picture of this. Who knows, I might just be inspired to paint something from this?
There’s also the balcony view for those who prefered to stay “hidden.”

And do want to see what Bernard ate?

Southern Fried Chicken. I had smoked chicken.

And what you’re seeing here is just a SMALL portion of what was served. We got mashed potatoes, baked beans, carrots, salad, biscuits, all you can eat. Yep, they would bring you back as many refills of the “sides” as you wanted. We got leftover chicken for a few days.

And at the end of the day, nothing beats sitting by the fire with our ereaders and a nice cold one.

YES! It’s a propane gas fire. Instant fire. No need to worry about firewood. So convenient too.
I decided to take a selfie, just because.
