During the morning, we did a quick run to Costco to restock, under the suspicion that we would not have a nearby Costco as we moved to our other stops in Michigan.
We wanted to get a feel for Detroit, and started from the Detroit Riverwalk. It allowed us to spend quite a pleasant afternoon walking along the Detroit River, which has lake Erie at its Southern end, and lake St-Clair at its Northern end (itself connected to lake Huron). The biggest surprise was seeing the Canadian flag across the river, which is just a few hundred feet wide, in the city of Windsor, ON. It was really shocking to see how multi-ethnic the people on the Riverwalk were compared to other places we have been during this trip.
There was a lot of traffic on the river. Small boats and a lot of jet skis. We are curious what type of controls are in place for anyone who crosses the international boundary by water…
