We were stunned yesterday when we got here to see how many boats were on the water. Today, it rained on and off all day, so we drove the entire periphery of the lake, and we thing we understand why there are so many boats. Michigan appears to make an effort to limit development on most lakes. So they probably picked one and decided to let it fully develop. We found during our drive that the entire lake is fully developed with homes, or more accurately small chalets, all around the lake. We have to assume that the population consists mostly of “locals” since we saw no grocery stores or brand name stores where tourists would shop. “Dollar general” type stores were seen a few times driving around the lake, but nothing else.
