Our friends Mike and Josy came to visit from Canada, and our plan was to visit US-side wineries. Claudette pre-selected three that had good reviews, and then we had Mike select which one of these to go to first.
We started off at Arrowhead winery, and did a flight of their red wines. We weren’t allowed to eat the lunch we had brought with us, so we quickly moved on to the second winery, which was literally kitty-corner to the first one we visited, The two vineyards are essentially adjoining one another.
So on we go to Freedom Run Winery. There we were OK’d to eat our cheese and veggies while sampling their wine. They had 8 reds, and between Claudette and I, we tasted all of them. There are typically a few that we don’t care for. We were surprised that we enjoyed all of them, despite four wines being Pinot Noir, which we generally find too light bodied for our taste.
Upon leaving, and seeing the fields of corn along the way, Claudette said it would be nice to eat some fresh sweet corn, and just as she said that, there was a sign on the side of the road. This was definitely the sweetest and most tender corn we have had in a long time.
