Joshua Tree National Park

Today we did a loop inside Joshua Tree National Park, entering by the Joshua Tree station and exiting from the Twentynine Palms station.

While the main attraction is the Joshua Trees, there is also a major component related to geology (aka rocks – once again…)

We had lunch at Keys view, with a magnificent view of the San Bernardino mountains with their snow covered top.  lunch was  at an elevation of 5200 ft, which is 2400 ft higher than the entrance station.

In total we did 3 short hikes (each less than 1 mile)

After existing the park, we visited the Twentynine Palms visitor center, which had a really in-depth display about the various indigenous tribes which populated the area before the arrival of the white man.

Fun fact – we are in California now, so today I added that sticker to our map, which now shows coast to coast travel at the southern end of the country
