Skyline Regional Park – Buckeye AZ

Buckeye is just slightly west of Phoenix.  We recently stopped in this area on our way to Tucson.  So this was just a stopover as we now head west to California.  We did a nice hike at the Skyline Regional Park, which was just a few minutes’ drive from our campsite.

Saguaros not as healthy as those seen in Tucson, but it was still a pleasant walk, It was rated as an easy hike, but it had a lot of elevation change up and down, as we negotiated various washes along the trail.  We walked a bit more than 4 miles, which is the most we have walked so far on this trip.

Fun fact:  A wash is a shallow channel that follows the contours of the land and allows water to flow — or wash — from higher elevations to lower.  Read more here
