Our first Christmas as Full Time RVers

Let me say that spending Thanksgiving in Florida was different for us and it was OK, but Christmas? No way. We need to be with our kids and grandkids. It’s the first time in, I don’t know how long, that I’ve NOT hosted Christmas.

We were fortunate that Julie’s new home permitted us to be all together. We decided to all pitch in and help with the meal. I got to say that I’ve been “preaching” to my stepmoms about not doing all on your own, and well, now it’s time to walk that talk.

We had a wonderful time. I was ‘privately’ worried about how we would all get along but truth be told, it was great. I took the space I needed to be on my own when I needed it, Julie and Steph where whizzes in the kitchen and the men bonded together.

Of course, opening the presents was a three day affair because with little ones, it doesn’t go as fast as with grown ups.  Sebastien, Carly and Taylor had commitments with other families therefore it was a bit challenging to have everyone together at the same time.

Bottom line, what was really important was that we were all together when we could.

We learned to adapt and be flexible, to adjust to the demands of others and learned what was truly important. It’s finding the time to enjoy each other’s company and take life in stride.

We loved our time with the kids and we will be getting ready for another first for us – Jamaica!
