With our RV at our campground in Cave Junction OR, we drove south into California, just 10 miles south of us, and drove into the Redwood State and National Parks complex. We spent most of our time in the “Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park”, where we drove through a dirt road that meanders in-between giant redwoods, and along the way, stopped for two hikes, one known as the “stout grove” and the other the “Grove of titans” Those were very rewarding hikes. After being done with these hikes, we stopped at Crescent Beach for a late lunch on the Pacific Ocean shore. Afterwards, we did the scenic drive along US-101 down to the “Newton B. Drury Scenic Parkway” located inside the “Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park”. That was nice, but not nearly impressive as our earlier dirt road drive and hikes. We got to the visitor center just minutes after its 5PM closure time, so Claudette missed out on stamping her National Parks passport. On the way back, we stopped in Crescent city for pizza at the “SeaFront Baking Company” where we had dinner before returning to our campsite before sunset.
