This cave, which is part of the Newberry volcano structure was created through the emptying of an underground lava tube, back when the volcano was active. Due to cuts to the National Parks, this cave wasn’t open to the public, and is only accessible via private tour-operator access. It was very interesting, and unlike other caves we have visited before, doesn’t have any stalactites and stalagmites like we have see in other wet caves. It was a moderately strenuous hike, and at one point, we were more than 250ft underground.
After we were done with that tour, we headed out to the downtown Bend area and visited Willamette Valley Vineyards, and did one of their wine tastings. The area is best known for fine Pinot Noir wines. After that, we walked along the river walk
