Today was going to be a rainy day for the whole day. The forecasts were correct… We had brief moments of sunshine throughout the day, but it did rain almost nonstop, with the whole range for light drizzle to heavy downpours. This meant fog and limited visibility at times, but it also allowed for pictures with dramatic skies at others.
The highlights from Bernard’s point of view are:
– The picturesque drive along Lake McDonald
– Our stop at the historic Lake McDonald lodge.
– The long uphill drive along the “Going to the Sun” road (timed entry pass required) that eventually leads to the Logan Pass visitor center
– The various waterfalls we saw right along the road, created by the ongoing snow melt from this past winter
When we got to the end, at the Saint Mary Visitor Center, we went in to stamp Claudette’s National Parks passport, and then began the return journey in the reverse direction, without all the stopping this time.
It was a wonderful day.
