We arrived in Fort Benton today to visit Missouri River Breaks National Monument today. Its another BLM owned property, this one along the Missouri River, also part of the Lewis & Clark exploration journey. We were lucky that Claudette noticed that they are closed on Sundays, so right after we finished setting up, we went over there, a short 5 minute drive from our campground. It had a very interesting “Interpretive Center”, and that’s going to be about the extent of our experience with it. The property extends over 375,000 acres, and most of its landmarks are only accessible by water (after all, this relates to the Lewis & Clark expedition, all of which was done by canoe).
