Today, we are in the Toledo, OH area, but we already visited two years ago during our summer trip to Michigan. So this time, we decided to go to a nearby winery. We had a relaxing time. We “wine tasted” 8 of their wines, and then we purchased one bottle of the one we preferred, along with their cheese and sausage platter. We sat outside, the air temperature was comfortable, and we had a great time.

(Should have taken the picture before we were finished ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)
Claudette’s Two Cents
We like to soak in a bit of local flavor whenever we travel. Since today was a “buffer” day, we decided to visit a local winery, The Chateau Winery.
That’s where we learned that the Frontenac grape was developed specifically for cold climates and can survive temperatures as low as –35°F. It made us wonder if our friend Mike—an incredible sommelier—knew about this grape (of course he did!). We also discovered that a nearby winery, Domaine Perrault, grows it too.
The Chateau Winery is part of Harvest Hosts, which might be a good reason to come back ;).
My favorite wine there was the Petite Sirah, especially when paired with chocolate. Honestly, what’s not to love about that combination?
