We are usually off-season travelers. Planning a trip during the summer is a whole other level of complexity because even back on February, when I started planning this trip, some campgrounds were not available for the dates we wanted (at Yellowstone N.P., some timed entry passed were sold out (road to the sun in Glacier N.P, travel by ferry was sold out to Isle Royale N.P.)
At least all our campgrounds are booked, with a few “buffer days” here and there, hopefully to either relax or do some additional local exploration. But the real reason for the buffer days is to minimize disruptions should we have a mechanical breakdown, so that we have a chance to catch-up with the scheduled stops.
Here we are as we depart home.
Claudette’s Two Cents:
I’m looking forward and a bit nervous at the same time. I’ve seen just how dedicated Bernard has been to the planning of this trip. One of the things I think worries my most is just how crowed it will be – both on the road and in the parks. I love to see people enjoying the outdoors, just not necessarily all at the same time as me ;).
