Charlestown Breachway, Rhode Island

Today we traveled a short distance to Rhode Island, so that we could add that sticker to our map.  Our campground was another “dry camping” one, at the Charlestown Breachway, essentially at Charlestown Beach which technically faces Block Island Sound, but in practice is actually open to the Atlantic Ocean.  We discovered that a breachway is actually a waterway into an inland pond, in this case the Ninigret Pond, which borders a National Wildlife Refuge of the same name.  The last stretch of road was let’s say challenging, and even driving at seven mph seemed way to fast for the road conditions.  There wasn’t much to do around, so we actually stayed both days at the campsite, with zero local miles driven…  The second day was cold and rainy, so this post is for both days.
