I guess we liked using the ferry enough that we decided to do that a second time to go across the Long Island Sound into Connecticut. We saw two benefits in doing that: 1) avoid hitting the NYC-area traffic again; 2) getting to drive across the northern branch of long island. Along the northern branch, we drove past a surprising number of wineries (note to self – need to come back…)
The ferry itself crosses from Orient Point NY to New London, CT and was just marginally shorter than our previous ferry ride (80 minutes)
We were parked just as tight as the previous ferry ride, and while on the ferry, we had lunch, and surprisingly, Bernard had a clam chowder which far surpassed those found in many high end seafood restaurants.
Once landed, we drove to Hammonasset Beach state park, which is a campground we had visited before with our previous RV, and had enjoyed very much
