We drove of 6519 miles, of which 4588 (70%) was towing our RV to get from one campground to another, and 1930 (30%) was getting around locally with the truck. Our trip took lasted 56 days, during which we stayed at 27 different locations. The most locations we stayed at is in Texas (11 locations). Eleven is also the number of states we stayed in campgrounds during this trip. Our length of stay ranged from one night (stopovers to keep daily total miles down- we did 8 of these), to 5 nights at Mammoth Cave (we planned for 3 but added two because of road conditions due to a snowstorm). Our plan for locations of interest was two nights, which gave us a full day to explore (we did this for 12 locations). We stayed 3 nights at Hot Springs N.P. AR, as well as the cities of Nashville TN, San Antonio TX, Austin TX and New Orleans LA. We stayed 4 nights at Big Bend N.P. TX. We spent $2,287 in diesel (649 gallons, average $3.52 per gallon) and $2,625 in campground fees for a total vacation cost of $4,912 which is excellent for a 2 month vacation.
