Being parents of twins is A LOT OF WORK, but very rewarding. I love that I am able to help Stephanie and Luis with their beautiful boys. I have no idea how I’ll be able to leave in a few weeks.
Bernard and I flew out to California a few days after the boys were discharged from the hospital after being born nearly 8 weeks premature. The babies spent 4 weeks in specialized care and did amazingly well under the great care of the hospital and loving parents.
When Bernard and I got to California, we were so impressed with how tiny they were. Now two weeks later, they’ve grown so much. It’s unbelievable how fast babies change, literally over night.
Bernard then left after spending a week to start his new job in Philadelphia. He’s super happy and excited to be with a dynamic group of high energy and positive people (not his words but I can hear that in his voice when we talk). I’ve stayed behind to help out with the boys for additional 3 weeks.
Bernard and I haven’t been apart for this much since 2006 where we both worked from home, did everything together and still managed to love each other. We even lived in an RV for 18 months and thrived. So this separation is really challenging us to not be over focused on the idea of not being together. I’m thinking we’re doing a good job.
It’s true that being very busy helps us to be distracted and the distraction is great. Change is part of live and unavoidable so we are embracing it to find the silver lining and enjoying the process. We have our goals well established and know all is good.
The twins are beautiful. They get cranky some times (well, a lot in the last few days), but all is good. With many hands to take care of them, it gives Mommy Stephanie and Daddy Luis some break. At the request of the parents, I won’t be sharing photos as they asked to respect their privacy, but just know they are ADORABLE (well all my grandchildren are adorable really).
Life in California is doing well as we enjoy the great weather, great company and great food.
